Following are some of our most commons types of hydraulic oil we supply and standard uses. These common industrial and agricultural fluids are essential for maintaining equipment longevity and performance. While they may look similar, they are engineered for different operating environments, temperatures, and mechanical demands.

AW32 Hydraulic Oil
AW stands for “Anti-Wear.” AW32 is a relatively thin (lower viscosity) hydraulic fluid.
  • Key Characteristics: Its lower viscosity allows it to flow easily even in colder operating temperatures, making it an excellent choice for systems starting up in chilly environments.
  • Primary Uses: * Industrial hydraulic systems operating in temperate or colder climates.
    • Precision machinery where quick response times are necessary.
    • Systems where low-temperature startup protection is required to prevent cavitation or sluggish performance.

AW46 Hydraulic Oil

AW46 is the industry standard for many general-purpose hydraulic applications. It is thicker (higher viscosity) than AW32.

  • Key Characteristics: The increased thickness provides a stronger protective film between moving parts under moderate to high operating temperatures. It is more stable than AW32 when the equipment is running in warm conditions, as it resists thinning out too much.
  • Primary Uses: * Heavy-duty construction machinery (excavators, bulldozers, cranes).

    • Agricultural equipment used during warmer seasons or in warmer climates.

Universal Tractor Fluid (UTF/UTTO)

Universal Tractor Fluid, often referred to as UTTO (Universal Tractor Transmission Oil), is a “multipurpose” fluid rather than a dedicated hydraulic oil.

  • Key Characteristics: Unlike AW hydraulic oils, UTF is specifically formulated to handle multiple, often conflicting, demands at once. It must lubricate gears, handle high pressures in hydraulics, provide friction modification for “wet brakes,” and manage the heat generated by transmissions.
  • Primary Uses: * Agricultural tractors where a single fluid reservoir must service the transmission, final drives, wet brakes, power take-off (PTO), and hydraulic systems.
    • Construction and mining equipment that utilizes a common fluid system for combined components.
    • Note: Never replace AW hydraulic oil with UTF in a system that specifically requires high-performance hydraulic fluid, as the additives in UTF can sometimes interfere with the precise valve functions of specialized hydraulic systems.
